Film fans relish summer as they can finally watch big-budget movie releases after months of hype and plot rumours – and 2012 looks set to be remembered as a vintage year!
Here we profile three films out now that you simply must watch, so read on to find out more about releases like Ted before you check Shepherds Bush cinema times or your local cinema times and book tickets to catch a future screening.
The Dark Knight Rises (165 minutes)
Quite frankly THE movie release of 2012 has already grossed over $800million at the box office around the world. If you’ve not had chance to watch The Dark Knight Rises yet then make sure you do because this is a film perfect for the complete cinematic experience.
The latest Christopher Nolan Batman masterpiece – but will it be the last? – sees the Caped Crusader come out of exile to try and stop Bane, played by London-born Tom Hardy, reaping havoc in Gotham City.
At just under three hours long, The Dark Knight Rises more than lives up to its billing and is simple stunning. The special effects are amazing. The plot is amazing. The cinematography is amazing. And Nolan’s vision is executed to perfection.
The Expendables 2 (103 minutes)
Everyone has a favourite action movie actor – and chances are they probably appear in The Expendables 2! The cast for this sequel, which comes hot on the heels of the release of the 2010 original, is incredible.
There’s Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and – last but by no means least - Arnold Schwarzenegger. The group of mercenaries reunite to plot revenge against the evil Van Damme in a film packed with cheesy one-liners, explosions aplenty and a kill count that resemblances a totalizer at a charity fund-raising event.
The action comes thick and fast, the weaponry on show is ridiculous and there are all the other usual things that make action movies so enjoyable.
Ted (106 minutes)
Do you like animated sitcom Family Guy? If so, you’re bound to love Ted as it was written by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and he provides the voice for the talking teddy bear that’s anything but cute and cuddly. Mind you, that won’t probably come as much as a surprise to fans of Family Guy.
Ted is a film that has divided opinion so far among those who’ve seen it – you’ll either find it hilarious or you won’t laugh at all.
If you fall into the former category then you’re in for a treat because it’s one of the funniest film releases in recent years. It’s crass, it’s immature and it’s very, very funny.
