Tonight is Chinese New Year, and what better way to celebrate than with a slap-up meal. Fine-dining Malaysian restaurant Awana is hosting a celebration for the Year of the Dragon, with a mouth-watering menu offering a selection of authentic Chinese dishes.
Malaysian cuisine is known as the first fusion food, with influences from many countries across Southeast Asia, such as India, Thailand and China - this is the perfect opportunity for the restaurant to explore its roots.
The starter for the special menu is Loh Sang, made up of salmon, carrot, raddish, mouli, ginger, peanuts, sesame seed, plum sauce, yam sauce, five spice powder and deep fried wanton skin.
Main courses include Ikan Kukus, steamed seabass in ginger, garlic, spring onion, coriander and soya sauce, Loh Hun Chai, black fungus, carrot, glass noodle, cauliflower, broccoli and dry bean curd stir fry and tempting Kambing Kicap, slow cooked lamb, carrots, tofu and oyster sauce.
Dessert is Lychee Kang which is Longan, a Chinese fruit in the Lychee family, barley, bitter melon, persimmon, brown sugar and lotus seeds. Prices on the menu vary, with main courses starting at £12.
The special menu is being served until 5 February.
