Beauty review: Urban Retreat at Home

Urban Retreat At Home

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t constantly working on a time deficit. I am forever running for a train (late), scurrying into work (late) or legging it to meet a friend (late) so it’s no surprise that my beauty regime doesn’t get a look in. When do I have time to sort out a mani/pedi, a massage or a facial? Never that’s when.

Well that statement held true until I found out about Urban Retreat At Home (the sky opened and rays of sun shone down upon my neglected beauty regimen). Urban Retreat of Harrods fame will now come to your house. That’s right, your house, for any number of fabulous treatments.

I opted for a spray tan as I had a very good friend’s hen do at the weekend and looking brown in pictures is never a bad thing in my opinion.

My beauty goddess Caroline showed up promptly in a very smart Urban Retreat branded car. After lugging her spray tan gear up my stairs she set up in the living room.

Being an old hand at spray tan protocol I already had loose clothes on but she’d very kindly brought me a Urban Retreat dressing gown in case I wasn’t up to date with the correct sartorial code. Some tea lights and some rather soothing music later and we were ready to go.

Urban Retreat At Home use Sienna X for their spray tans which gives a slightly redder hue than its competitor St. Tropez.

Caroline asked me what sort of colour I was after and knew exactly what hue would suit my skin tone best. Two coats of the lighter shade and a good old natter later it was done.

I washed it off the next morning and was a fabulous golden colour. Not TOWIE mahogany but ten days in France sort of brown.

Almost a week later and it’s holding up: I don’t have any blotches, there’s no odd biscuit smell about my person and it’s fading as a natural tan might.
