For this year's London Design Festival, which is held on 17-25 September and attracts over 350,000 people, Kingsroad.co.uk is teaming up with Hillgate PR to celebrate design in the King's Road area, in its new initiative, Creative Chelsea.
The London Design Festival is made up of a programme of over 200 events, from international exhibitions to trade events, installations, seminars, product launches, private views and parties. The festival attracts consumers, businesses, overseas visitors and students.
Helen Horten-Smith, Account Director of Hillgate PR said: "For many years Chelsea has been an important destination in London used as a resource by interior designers and specifiers as well as consumers interested in home interiors. Considering the unique design heritage of the area and wealth of knowledge, we feel it is important that Chelsea is not overlooked.
"By working closely together as a community and with valuable partners such as the London Design Festival and Kingsroad.co.uk, the new initiative will aim to raise the profile of the area, attract visitors and celebrate all our collective efforts."
Creative Chelsea would see Chelsea become a 'design district' of the London Design Festival, branding the area as a creative hub with its own programme of activity from local showrooms, retailers, architects and designers. Areas such as Brompton and Fitzrovia are already recognised by the festival as design districts.
Jonathan Lloyd, co-founder of Kingsroad.co.uk said: "This is really exciting for design businesses on the King's Road. For the first time there is now a local website which can reach a wider audience and showcase an initiative such as Creative Chelsea. It's great to be a part of this and bring together all the different businesses."
A meeting was held last Friday, with a strong turnout from local design businesses interested in the initiative. For more information or to participate, email Kingsroad.co.uk.
