Following the resounding success of the inaugural Chelsea AutoLegends last year, the 2011 event – to be held on Sunday, 4 September – will be even more spectacular, and tickets are now on sale.
Hosted once again in the grounds of the Royal Hospital in London’s Chelsea, the organisers and event patron Sir Stirling Moss OBE (pictured), promise even more to see and do, with historically important road and competition cars, supercars, classic bikes, special themed displays, side shows. It will also continue to raise funds for the Chelsea Pensioners – residents of the Royal Hospital – via a special auction and other activities.
The day will be a sensory overload for anyone with an ounce of petrol running through their veins… but it’s not just for the enthusiast.
With the Royal Hospital moments away from the King’s Road, the show will fittingly have a Swinging Sixties theme. In addition to the cars that defined the decade, the fashions, the art and the culture of the era will also be fondly remembered.
Among the special attractions will be displays of:
• Iconic Le Mans race cars
• Brutal Group B rally cars from the 1980s
• Classic motorcycles
• 50th birthday celebrations for the E-type and Mini Cooper
• The ten most significant road cars of the past five decades
• Supercars including the 267mph Bugatti Veyron SS
A comprehensive collection of Le Mans cars will remain at the heart of the show – this time with the spotlight firmly on many of the racers that competed in the world’s most famous 24-Hours endurance classic during its heydays in the Sixties. These include the renowned Ferrari GTO and Ford GT40 models.
Whether it’s through on-track victories or starring roles in Austin Powers movies, the Jaguar remains one of the most iconic British sportscars from ‘The Swinging Sixties’. To mark the special occasion a wide-ranging collection of E-Types will be one of the most significant and evocative drawcards at this year’s Chelsea AutoLegends.
An impressive line-up of contemporary supercars – a major hit with the many thousands of showgoers in 2010 – will feature strongly, too. Already confirmed is a rare appearance of the World’s fastest production car: the 267mph Bugatti Veyron SuperSport as driven by James May on BBC2’s Top Gear.
Tickets for this year’s Chelsea AutoLegends are now on sale either via the event’s new website or from the ticket hotline on 0844 581 0760.
