KLC School of Design, which is based at the Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour, has teamed up with local schools and architectural firm Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands (LDS), in a new initiative to inspire young designers.
The project has been assisted by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) and the Higher Education Links Manager Gill Cumberland who contacted local schools to participate.
This year St Thomas More Language College and Sion Manning Catholic secondary school for girls are participating. The initiative is to give students something to engage with at a design level.
As part of the initiative, students will visit KLC’s studios for presentations about architecture and design from KLC and LDS. KLC tutors will also visit the schools to help students with their projects.
In a press release Jenny Gibbs, Principal of KLC School of Design said: “We hope that participants in this project will get a real insight into the work of interior designers and architects as school leavers often bypass these careers as they are unaware how exciting and rewarding they can be.”
KLC School of Design is celebrating 30 years inspiring design and was established by Jenny Gibbs.
