Bikeminded summer cycle tour

Bikeminded, the name of the campaign from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) council to promote cycling in the borough, has announced its programme of summer cycling tours. It is running a series of events for cyclists aimed at exploring arts and culture in the royal borough.

Starting tomorrow (14 April) is Bikeminded's Film Tour. Cyclists on the tour will visit locations which appeared in films like James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Blue Lamp. In addition, avid film makers can also enter Bikeminded's Cycle Shorts filmmaking competition. Entrants just need to submit a 90 second video which inspires people to get on their bikes and explore Kensington and Chelsea.

In May, June and July, Bikeminded gear things up by taking cyclists on its Music Tour. This tour visits the hang-out spots made famous by legendary rockers, synth-stars and reggae artists.

The summer season wraps up on 18 July with Bikeminded teaming up with RBKC's inTRANSIT festival to bring a day of mystery and fantasy with the Alice In Wonderland Tour. This interactive tour, will take in the parks and secret corners of RBKC. This tour will run every day from 18 to 22 July.

In a press release, Councillor Paget-Brown of Kensington and Chelsea said: “We are delighted to announce such an exciting and varied Bikeminded summer cycling tour programme, which we hope will appeal to people in the borough and beyond, and encourage them to join us in experiencing the pleasures of cycling.

“We are lucky to live and work in such a vibrant and cultural part of London, and through these cycling tours we aim to bring our streets and their stories alive through film, music and theatre. There’s no better way of experiencing the sights and sounds of Kensington and Chelsea than on two wheels, and this summer we want everyone to get involved.”
