Handmade In Britain has revealed the return of their annual Christmas fair founded by designer Piyush Suri. It is a collective of unique designers who have a range of talents from intricate arts and crafts to limited edition furniture and jewellery. The event will run from the 28 to 30 October at Chelsea Old Town Hall.
Now in its fifth year, and after much critical and commercial acclaim, Handmade in Britain has revealed that for the first time they will be showcasing and selling design books which showcase 90 British designers along with their work and the philosophies behind what they do. This is in an attempt by Handmade In Britain to raise the profile of British Crafts worldwide.
Some notable designers will be showing off some of their latest works. Amongst them is Deryn Relph, notable for his quirky, retro yet contemporary, interior products, knitted in uplifting rainbow colours that evoke a nostalgic happiness that is underpinned by a 'sustainable design' ethos.
Naomi Singer, known for combining fused glass with digital photography to create unique panels, bowls, and more individual accessories for the home. Also attending is Louise O’Neill, who creates one-off jewellery pieces in matt high carat gold with unusually cut gemstones and Tim Chadsey, who uses finest sustainable materials to create elegant handcrafted contemporary furniture.
For those who are looking for something extra special and fancy an alternative evening out, there will be a private viewing on the evening of 27 October from 5:30pm until 9pm.
