Harrods opened their Christmas department in August, festive wrapping paper has started to appear in WHSmith's around the royal borough, and we even heard what sounded like a holiday jingle on the radio the other day. Christmas is coming in all its Coca-Cola advert glory people.
Chelsea’s Christmas lights are being switched on in Duke of York Square on Saturday 5 November. Santa will be showing up in a sleigh pulled by reindeer and taking present requests in his North Pole themed grotto after he’s flipped the switch although think it might be more children’s toys than monogrammed Smythson diaries (hint hint).
There will be ‘real’ snow (seriously, they even know what time...3pm if you’re asking), face painting, cookie decorating classes and dancing elves not to mention carols and a whole heap of other super fun festive activities.
The best thing about it is that the grotto, running between November and December, is completely free.
Whether you take the kids, go down with a group of friends or have a potter on your tod, it’s the perfect day out to get you in the Christmas spirit here in Chelsea. A couple of mulled wines will ease you into it nicely too*! (*not for the kids).
