Kingsroad.co.uk is thrilled that Gabriella Ellis will be performing at our event on Wednesday 20 July at JuJu. We caught up with her in the sunshine of Bluebird Chelsea to discuss her future plans, favourite parts of King’s Road and kissing Cheska from Made In Chelsea…
What is your earliest memory of King’s Road?
When I was 16 my mum brought me here to go to Partridges for tea. I felt very special with my cup of tea and my bit of cake watching all of the beautiful people in their designer clothes.
What are you wearing today?
I’m wearing Hollister white shorts and a top by a Greek designer called Mina.
Who is your favourite luxury designer?
It’s so difficult to say as I love so many designers, but I would have to say Vivienne Westwood. I just love everything she produces.
What are your favourite high street shops?
You cannot beat Topshop and River Island.
Where would you recommend to go and get pampered in the area?
Which hairdresser do you go to?
I love going to Hari’s, (233 King’s Road) and they also have a great new Sophy Robson nail bar there which is fantastic.
What would be your perfect day on King’s Road?
Sitting in the sunshine and eating what I think is the best burger in London at Bluebird Chelsea, cocktails at JuJu and dancing in Raffles (287 King’s Road). All of which I have done many times!
Where is your favourite pub?
I love The Cadogan Arms (298 King’s Road), I have been going to play pool there for years.
Do you have a favourite bar on King’s Road?
It would be a tie between JuJu and Beaufort House (354 King’s Road).
What is your favourite cocktail?
The Pornstar Martini’s at JuJu are amazing.
Who was the last person you kissed on King’s Road?
I think it was Cheska (laughs), I love the taste of her lipgloss!
What music are you listening to at the moment?
Jessie J and I have just come across this guy called
Jamie Woon who performed at Glastonbury this year. Check him out on iTunes, his music is fascinating.
What are the three things you cannot live without?
My iPhone 4, Liquid eyeliner from Mac and my Vanilla Paris (122 King’s Road), lime green handbag.
What do you do to keep fit?
I run all the time, usually down the King’s Road to Parson’s Green and back up the
Fulham Road. I wear leggings and a sports bra both from Sweaty Betty. I cannot stand being confined in a gym!
Where do you like to listen to live music?
It would have to be Barts (Chelsea Cloisters, Sloane Avenue) where I have played many a gig myself. It’s a great venue.
What are you working on at the moment?
Well I am a singer-songwriter and I am just recording my album at the moment. We will hopefully be releasing ‘Fight’ soon, the song I performed on Made in Chelsea and then I will be releasing the album after that.
I’m still searching for the right record deal but it’s all really exciting and I cannot wait to get back into the studio.
We are really thrilled you are singing at our summer party at JuJu on Wednesday 20 July. Can you give us an insight into what you’ll be playing?
I’m going to be performing an arrangement of my own music, including ‘Fight’ and ‘Hit The Road Jack’ which was the song that went to number one in Greece.
Finally, can you tell our reader’s what makes King’s Road special to you?
It is a great place to shop, socialise and people watch. It’s got all of my favourite things in one place, and in my opinion it’s definitely the most fun and dynamic areas of London.
