Support local on Independents' Day

Independents' Day

If you're planning on shopping this Monday (4 July), make sure you buy from an independent retailer, because the date marks Independents' Day. No, this isn't a typo – Independents' Day is all about celebrating local shops, so get out onto the King's Road and support local.

The day is organised by retail bodies, Skillsmart Retail and the National Skills Academy for Retail, who are encouraging people in the UK to buy at least one item from a local independent retailer and celebrate diversity on the high street. They're also trying to show that the local shopkeeper is both a vital service and someone who does every job in a business – from accountant to sales assistant to buyer.

For any retailers out there, to celebrate Independents' Day, Skillsmart Retail and the National Skills Academy for Retail are offering the chance to win a business master class, worth £200, with Mary Portas.

And for everyone else, we've got some special offers to inspire you to hit the independents this Monday, with 10 per cent off at Muse and more.
