Christian Louboutin says his collections are like “family”. The shoe designer feels very close to the pieces he creates as he puts so much work into them. He continually thinks about the way his shoes can work with each other, as he wants his lines to offer women footwear for every occasion.
“I sketch literally all the time, constructing a collection is like building a family, you have to have a certain balance. I isolate myself – I need to be concentrated for this so I leave Paris, I leave to a place without a phone,” he explained.
The designer also discussed the type of people he likes to see wearing his creations. He loves “survivors” to pick his pieces, explaining he is interested in people who manage to turn their lives around.
Christian believes his brand is popular because he is so passionate about shoes.
“I started my little adventure 20 years ago with the biggest enthusiasm possible! Twenty years after, I still work the same way with the same enthusiasm and the people I work with share this enthusiasm. That is what is the most important. What I’m trying to show is that it can be a lot of fun to do what you like to do,” he told GraziaDaily.co.uk.
“You need to believe in yourself and what you do. Be tenacious and genuine.”
