Ditch your black trouser suit this summer and spice up your look with some colour, pattern, new shapes and designs. Summer calls for a rethink on your work wardrobe and this colour is definitely the summer to experiment with colour. From pretty pastel shades to vivid, bold bright hues colour is everywhere, not just in shirts, blouses and t-shirts.
Next has a tantalising collection of women’s suits and separates this summer that are sure to win you over to the bright side. Here are three ways to spice up your tailored look this summer.
Rethink the suit
Be prepared to get your legs out this summer in a pair of leg-baring tailored shorts or even a playsuit. Next has a simply delightful Black Floral Playsuit for £45. This solves the problem of what to wear on top too as its all worked into one garment. Add a colour pop belt and a coloured blazer such as the baby Pink Cotton Blazer (pictured), £50. It has slightly cropped sleeves and together with the light pastel shade give off an air of summeriness. Just add some black sling-back wedges and tote bag.
Alternatively go for Next’s scalloped edge jacket and shorts combo, together costing £70. The coral colour is particularly on-trend and you can pair this with white, black or more pastel shades. Show off those legs with some platformed peep-toe courts.
Get dressy
Summer is dress season. Although we can technically wear dresses throughout the year, they get a new lease of life during the summer – no tights, boots or heavy jackets are necessary. Next has some great tailored dresses that will brighten up even the dullest of offices. The Slub Dress, £45, comes in nude, mint and coral. It has a tulip shaped pencil skirt, v-neck, capped sleaves and fitted waist. It is chic, sophisticated and elegant and will look great with the Slub Peplum Jacket, £49. This is a really summery work wear combo and a complete outfit for less than £100 is impressive. Just add some nude heels and a contrasting coloured back and you are ready to hit the nine to five.
