Over the past twenty or so years, Leeds has undergone an amazing transformation that has cost the country millions of pounds, transforming it from an ex-industrial city to one of finance and culture. In fact the investment has worked so well that Leeds is now the second largest city in England in terms of finance.
With that in mind there are also a plethora of activities, restaurants and venues which offer brilliant getaway moments from all the city has to offer.
Take a bite at Yum Yum’s Deli
As if it has fallen out of the streets of New York, Yum Yum’s Deli is a fabulous eatery that offers only the freshest, organic and most delicious food that the four corners of the world has to offer.
Located in one corner of Brewery Warf, the small yet attractive deli offers everything that the average hipster needs, from cigarettes to imported pop forgetting not of course a wide range of foreign beers, wine and freshly made food.
Though the deli risks falling astray to pretention, this is not an issue as all of the staff are down to earth, friendly and helpful; handy when you have never tried many of their foods before.
Open until late at night the Café is the perfect place to meet in candlelight and enjoy some of the freshest food in the city before heading out into the night.
Visit the Royal Armouries
Costing £42.5 million back in 1996 the museum is one of the greatest additions to find itself in the Leeds skyline. With free admission for over 8,500 pieces of weaponry within five galleries (war, tournament, oriental, self-defence and hunting), a quick nip into the museum during a bout of rain is certainly worth the time.
A great place for the kids, the museum also has a wide range of activities including Jester’s Yard, Crossbow Range, Have a Go section and the RA Fencing Club.
Shop at the Briggate Historic Arcades
Found within the centre of the city itself, the Briggate Arcades offer shopping at its finest. Within them not only will you find some of the most expensive and luxurious shops that the North of England has to offer but some of the most beautiful buildings too.
Built within the 19th Century the arcades really do offer a great shopping experience that is comparable to London and Paris. Thornton’s Arcade, Queens Arcade and the Victoria Quarter are all proud sectors within the shopping districts, showing how great the city of Leeds can be.
Sleep at Residence Six
The only five star hotel in Leeds, Residence Six offers the finest accommodation in the area with their luxury serviced apartments.
Committed to luxury, quality and service the apartments are located directly opposite the train station in the beautifully restored old Post Office building located on City Square.
Drink at Sky Lounge
Possibly one of the least known bars in Leeds, the Sky Lounge, found just behind the train station also serves as one of the finest.
With a dress code in place however, you will have to make sure that your shoes are shined and your shirt is ironed as only the smartest people are allowed on the 13th floor to enjoy some of the most expert cocktails served within the city.
So if you’re looking for a place to drink that matches the luxury of Residence 6 then Sky Lounge will certainly be the place that you’re looking for!
